What Type of HUD Certificate Should I Request?
When a manufactured or mobile home is being financed, refinanced, or sold, most lenders require one or more HUD Compliance Certifications to confirm the home meets federal standards for safety, stability, and proper installation. Summit Home Inspection, LLC proudly provides these inspections with fast turnaround and expert reporting.
We currently offer the following three HUD Compliance Certifications—often required for FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs:
Verifies that the home is affixed to a compliant, permanent foundation system according to HUD Handbook 4930.3G. This includes:
Lenders require this to confirm that the home qualifies as real property. This is the most frequently ordered HUD certification—and often the first step in the process.
Evaluates whether any structures attached to the manufactured home—such as porches, decks, garages, or sunrooms—meet HUD guidelines. These additions must either be structurally independent or properly integrated to avoid affecting the home’s compliance or safety.
Confirms that the home has not been moved from its original, first-installed location. Many loan programs require this certification, as HUD does not permit multiple moves. This is especially important for homes installed before June 15, 1976, or those with missing documentation.
